Love- It Does Not Boast...

God's Word

…he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." James 4:6

Encouragement Shared
Boasting is form of pride it is one of those attributes that God wants to prune from our life. We need to be careful with our thoughts and be slow to speak.

Boasting also leans toward extreme exaggerations [lying], a form of manipulations in order to self exalt to false glory. That is to say that boasting is also evil according to God’s word. God hates pride-To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. Provebs 8:13

God’s Word on Boasting About Tomorrow
Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil. 17Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins. James 4:13-17

James Chapter 4 brings to mind Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So we can live in freedom from the deceitfulness that comes with pride. We can live in godly confidence because our competence comes from Him. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. 2 Corinthians 3:5 I know this for sure any good thing that I do is not from me but Christ in me. I can do no good thing with out him.

Verse for Today-

"The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him." Psalm 92:14

Prayer
Thank you Father for pruning those things from each of our lives that displeases you, May the words of our mouth and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable to you O Lord our rock and redeemer. O LORD, when we call to you; come quickly to us. Hear our voice when we call to you. May our prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of our hands be like the evening sacrifice. Set a guard over our mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of our lips. Let not our heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; That we would rejoice in your glory and the victories you give…Thank you for the advance answer to all our prayers. Thank you for the gift of Christ who died for our sins. May you bless each soul reading this prayer today with godly confidence through the written word of truth planted on the tablet of their heart. In Christ name we pray. Amen!
