The Attributes of Love is Life by the Spirit...

God's Word

Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Psalm 37:7

Encouragement Shared:
God has been speaking to me personally regarding the attributes of love. In the past when it came to love, I had no idea what the definition of love was, or how to apply love in my daily life. Today as I read my bible and prepared for my day one of the first attributes of love listed in 1 Corinthians 13; Love is Patient continually came before me. It is also listed as an attribute in Paul’s letter to the Galatians as a fruit in life by the spirit.

Patience is not a trait that comes easily to us. Patience is one of those virtues that are definitely spirit lead. Patience is also opens a platform for other godly attributes to grow us in grace, mercy through the word of truth in wisdom, knowledge and understanding in love. Patience also displays our spiritual maturity through the faith we hold firmly and profess in Christ through joy. [Hebrews 4]

Impatience has the opposite effects, it displays the works of our flesh; anger, rage that creates bitterness. This causes us to act on our emotions and experience instead acting on biblical truth, guidance and direction through the word written on the tablet of our hearts.

Impatience is a pathway to destruction and distraction. Impatience brings destruction in our lives, relationships with family, friends and co-workers. Distraction removes us from the call on our lives in Christ. The result is being unfruitful and unproductive. There are only three things that are required by us; To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8

Job a suffering man who loved God asked; "What strength do I have, that I should still hope? What prospects, that I should be patient? Job 6:13 - The truth is we can only receive the strength, hope through God’s unfailing love, mercy and grace for us. We see this in word of God; But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 8:25;12:12 It takes great faith to be still and wait patiently through times of difficulty, seasons of change waiting for those streams in the desert. Patience in prayer in waiting builds character, hope and perseverance. This creates a faith filled life in Christ. We will not be so quick to act on emotions bring us commotion.

My encouragement for you today: Look in the mirror of God’s word to strengthen those attributes he is working within us as we wait patiently for HIM, seeking direction from the word of truth which is God’s word. Regardless of our outward circumstance the one who calls us is faithful he will do it!

Verse for Today:
Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Psalm 25:4-5

Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance,
Love in Christ,
