Put On Love and Live In Perfect Unity...

God’s Word –’Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.” Leviticus 19:2
Encouragement Shared: First thing when I woke up, my thoughts went to God’s word; “Be Holy because I, am holy. Peter quoted this from Leviticus 19:2 the old testament scriptures in 1 Peter Chapter 1 where he is encouraging us to “Be Holy” – He is a Holy God and we need to reverence Him in all things.
Put to Death Old Self and Put on Love:
We need to put to death our ways of thinking, trust in the Lord with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding. [Proverbs 3:4; 5] As I began to prepare for my day, I could not help to think how hard it is to be loving when someone has wrong you; or to show compassion to the emotional person when they continually treat us in an impatient manor because their going through a rough time perhaps just in a bad mood. The most difficult characteristics for me to forgive are controlling people. I seriously need to pray and fast over my heart so that I can be clothed with compassion, kindness, humility lots and lots of it. I only have the ability to do any good thing; through the power of Christ. My sisters I know that this is not easy-but Jesus himself says; For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. [Matthew 6] The root of un-forgiveness is anger, Jesus warns us in the Sermon on the Mount- [Matthew Chapter 5] regarding anger before we offer any sacrifice to the Lord go and be reconciled to our brother [sister]. Not displaying forgiveness is anger and anger is Danger without the “D”. Yes so we must truly rely on Christ on all these matters let go those emotions that keep us imprisoned within our self; especially in our marriages, the work place and our relationships with others. It is only through Christ we bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. My beautiful sisters just know that to forgive is “Freedom” , so ponder these things as you go through the day today. Peace be with you!
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
We thank you for the gift of Christ, that shed his blood on Calvary for all our transgressions and sins. Your daughters will seek the truth of your word to forgive and we will bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances we may have against one another. Forgive as you Lord forgave us. Your daughters will put to death our old way of thinking and put on love so we may live in perfect unity. We thank you for bringing us from strength to strength – glory to glory through the power of Christ in us. It is in Jesus name we pray…Amen!
Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance,
Love in Christ,
Jennifer Pettiford
