A Word of Encouragement Regarding Parents

Encouragement Shared: Paul writes in – Ephesians 6:2 – “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— On a personal note, during the recovery of my illness, this verse rang true to my heart. I did not honor my father or my mother and my days were on the way to being cut short. God’s word has truth, power, revelation and it show us the consequence of our sin. Regardless or where we are spiritually if we recognize that Christ is our Lord or not, if we acknowledge the “FACT” that Christ is way the truth or the life. [John 14:16] Dearest sisters please know that if we do not honor our parents there is a consequence for this action.
Disconnection + Disrespect = Dysfunction that leads to Bitterness:
There are many disconnected relationships; dysfunctional relationships or disrespect in our relationships between children and parents so often it brings us grief, anger and rage that is a foundation for bitterness. Bitterness is the root to all kinds of heart issues that defile every life we touch. I can guarantee we all know someone that is bitter and has toxic behavior during anytime we spend with them. Bitterness can be subtle or overtly obvious. Usually the bitter heart has no idea about their bitter roots. This requires patience and prayer on our behalf. The word of God states I love those who love me, those who seek me will find me …[Proverbs 8:17]
Bitter Roots Are Bitter Poison:
The Bible addresses “Bitter Roots” – See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Hebrews 12:15 In the Old Testament in The book of Deuteronomy addresses bitter people – Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the LORD our God to go and worship the gods of those nations; make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison. Deuteronomy 29:18 Bitter people are poison according to the word of God, so keep let us be faithful to keep in prayer that God would reveal any form of bitter roots so that we may continue to grow in His grace, and bear “Good Fruit”…
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,You are awesome in glory and in power… Your faithfulness is un-ending! We love you Lord because you first loved us. Father let our prayers be set before you like incense; let the lifting up of our hands be like the evening sacrifice. Set a guard over our mouth, and Father; keep watch over the door of our lips. Your daughters will delight is in your law “The Bible”, and on your law we will meditate day and night. So that we are like the tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever we do we will prosper. More importantly we will follow your command to obey and honor our parents in everything, for this pleases you Lord. We will do this with empower strength you provide through Christ… In Jesus name we pray…Amen!
Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance,Love in Christ,Jennifer Pettiford
